Judah’s Security 12 1An Oracle   The word of the Lord concerning Israel. A declaration of the Lord, who stretched out the heavens, laid the foundation of the earth, and formed the spirit of man within him.   2“Look, I will make Jerusalem a cup that causes staggering for the peoples who surround the city. The siege against Jerusalem will also involve Judah. 3On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who try to lift it will injure themselves severely when all the nations of the earth gather against her. 4On that day”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness. I will keep a watchful eye on the house of Judah but strike all the horses of the nations with blindness. 5Then each of the leaders of Judah will think to himself: The residents of Jerusalem are my strength through the Lord of Hosts, their God. 6On that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves; they will consume all the peoples around them on the right and the left, while Jerusalem continues to be inhabited on its site, in Jerusalem. 7The Lord will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of David’s house and the glory of Jerusalem’s residents may not be greater than that of Judah. 8On that day the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that on that day the one who is weakest among them will be like David on that day, and the house of David will be like God, like the Angel of the Lord, before them. 9On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.   Mourning for the Pierced One   10“Then I will pour out a spirit[Q] of grace and prayer on the house of David and the residents of Jerusalem, and they will look at[R] Me whom they pierced. They will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child and weep bitterly for Him as one weeps for a firstborn. 11On that day the mourning in Jerusalem will be as great as the mourning of Hadad-rimmon in the plain of Megiddo. 12The land will mourn, every family by itself: the family of David’s house by itself and their women by themselves; the family of Nathan’s[S] house by itself and their women by themselves; 13the family of Levi’s house by itself and their women by themselves; the family of Shimei[T] by itself and their women by themselves; 14all the remaining families, every family by itself, and their women by themselves.

I. Introduction If you were going to attack the foundation of Christianity, what would be the first place to start? Attacking the validity of Jesus Christ. Was Jesus Christ a real historical person? Did He really claim to be the Son of God? Was He what He claimed to be? There have been a number of movies and shows recently that have attacked the validity of Jesus Christ such as "The Beast" (2005), "The Da Vinci Code" (2006), "The God Who Wasn't There" (2005), and "Angels & Demons" (2009). Hollywood loves to push a humanistic world-view upon its viewers. Does the evidence in place support Jesus Christ or is there a lack of evidence to prove his existence? II. The Bible The earlier lessons we have proven the validity of the Bible as God's inspired Word. What does the Bible say about Jesus Christ? 1. Jesus Christ Jesus Christ claims to be the Son of God John 5:17-20; 10:27-33 Luke 18:9-14 2. The Apostles The Apostles claimed that Jesus Christ was the Son of God Matt 16:13-16; Acts 2:36 3. The Messianic Prophecies Perhaps the strongest arguments for the existence and proof of Jesus Christ is all the prophecies about Him in the Bible. There are more than 300 Messianic prophecies about Jesus Christ written hundreds and even thousands of years before He walked the Earth that all came true. Here are just some of them: Prophecy | Prediction | Fulfillment Born of a virgin | Isa 7:14 | Matt 1:18-25 Born in Bethlehem | Micah 5:2 | Matt 2:1 Lineage of Abraham | Gen 22:18 | Matt 1:1 Tribe of Judah | Gen 49:10 | Matt 1:2 From house of David | Jere 23:5 | Matt 1:1 Preach parables | Psa 78:2 | Matt 13:34 Great healer | Isa 35:5-6 | Matt 9:35 Jerusalem donkey | Zech 9:9 | Matt 21:6-11 Betrayed by friend | Psa 41:9 | Matt 10:4 30 pieces of silver | Zech 11:12 | Matt 26:15 Pierced hands | Psa 22:16 | Matt 27:35 No bones broken | Psa 34:20 | John 19:33 Casting lots | Psa 22:18 | Matt 27:35 Pierced side | Zech 12:10 | John 19:34 Rich man's tomb | Isa 53:9 | Matt 27:57-60 While these prophecies may not prove Jesus walked the Earth to unbelievers, they provide powerful testimony to the inspiration of the Bible and Christ's deity.
