2 1So the heavens and the earth and everything in them[K] were completed. 2By the seventh[L] day God completed His work that He had done, and He rested[M] on the seventh day from all His work that He had done. 3God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, for on it He rested from His work of creation.[N]   Man and Woman in the Garden   4These are the records of the heavens and the earth, concerning their creation at the time[O] that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens. 5No shrub of the field had yet grown on the land,[P] and no plant of the field had yet sprouted, for the Lord God had not made it rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground. 6But water would come out of the ground and water the entire surface of the land. 7Then the Lord God formed the man out of the dust from the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being. 8The Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there He placed the man He had formed. 9The Lord God caused to grow out of the ground every tree pleasing in appearance and good for food, including the tree of life in the middle of the garden, as well as the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. 10A river went[Q] out from Eden to water the garden. From there it divided and became the source of four rivers.[R] 11The name of the first is Pishon, which flows through the entire land of Havilah,[S] where there is gold. 12Gold from that land is pure;[T] bdellium[U] and onyx[V] are also there. 13The name of the second river is Gihon, which flows through the entire land of Cush. 14The name of the third river is the Tigris, which runs east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates. 15The Lord God took the man and placed him in the garden of Eden to work it and watch over it. 16And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree of the garden, 17but you must not eat[W] from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day you eat from it, you will certainly die.” 18Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper as his complement.” 19So the Lord God formed out of the ground every wild animal and every bird of the sky, and brought each to the man to see what he would call it. And whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name. 20The man gave names to all the livestock, to the birds of the sky, and to every wild animal; but for the man[X] no helper was found as his complement. 21So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to come over the man, and he slept. God took one of his ribs and closed the flesh at that place. 22Then the Lord God made the rib He had taken from the man into a woman and brought her to the man. 23And the man said:   This one, at last, is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh; this one will be called “woman,” for she was taken from man.   24This is why a man leaves his father and mother and bonds with his wife, and they become one flesh. 25Both the man and his wife were naked, yet felt no shame.

Divorce is not a popular topic to discuss, but marriage, divorce, and re-marriage is an important topic which requires study. God's plan for marriage is one man and one woman for life (Gen 2:18,21-24). God's plan for marriage has been attacked from our culture and government in recent years. This topic is emotional and needs to be treated seriously and lovingly because it effects so many people. Tread carefully in the discussion but do not shy away. I. Be Proactive, not Reactive Why does the church spend so much time preaching on marriage, divorce, and re-marriage as a whole? Wouldn't it be better to be proactive instead of reactive? Let's create a happy, fulfilling marriages in which divorce is never an option. II. No-Fault Divorce Why have we become so reactive? Most likely it is because of the no-fault divorce laws of today. In past generations, there was a sanctification of God's plan for marriage even within our civil courts, and divorce carried a negative connotation. In the past, the courts would look for reasons for divorce. Frankly, it was difficult to get a divorce previous to 1969. In 1969, a California governor signed into effect the first no-fault divorce law. Shortly after, all states within the union adopted this practice as the law spread like wildfire. As a result, the United States divorce rate rose from around 10% in 1969 to over 50% by 1980! Studies show increased divorce rates have an effect upon other things in life: increase prison rate, increased illegitament child birth. III. God hates Divorce (Mal 2:10) God hates divorce. The Pharisees wanted to trick Jesus. If God hates divorce why did Moses give us certificate of divorce (Deut 24:1-4)? The Pharisees were seeking a no-fault divorce law (Matt 19:3,7). 'Can a man divorce his wife for ANY reason?' (Matt 19:3). Jesus gave them their answer (Matt 19:4-9). God did not give a no-fault divorce law to Moses. God has consistently been against divorce since the beginning of time. To suggest otherwise to to twist God's Word and desire into man's desire. Sexual immorality is the only reason for divorce (Matt 19:9). IV. Steps to be Proactive 1. It matters who you marry. There are worse Hingis than being single your whole life. One those reasons is marrying the wrong person. 2. There are no "soul mates" Find your "soul mate" is not Biblical. Marriage is the product of two people sparking and doing what it takes to foster their relationship into a lasting marriage. The stars do not have to align. There is no cosmic force. This idea has lead to the trying over again mentality which leads to multiple no-fault divorces. 3. Choose the right person Do not be "unequally yoked" (2 Cor 6:14). Encourage our young people to grow up and marry a Christian. There are success stories of a believing spouse converting their unbelieving spouse. However, this is the exception to the rule. If this happened to you, thank God everyday. Find a Christian to marry. You choose who you fall in love with. Make a smart decision. Find the person that will help you get to heaven. 4. You cannot enjoy dividends if you don't invest The best spouse in the world is a faithful Christian. Want to be the best husband or wife to be? Be faithful to God. It will impact your marriage. Despite the popular cultural idea, marriage doesn't just "work itself out." Marriage takes work! You must work at it to be successful. 5. Don't wait until there are problems Don't wait until there are problems in your marriage to try and make it better. While things are going good, continue to work on making them better. Only working on making your relationship better during tough times is like swimming upstream. Except for the extreme circumstances outlined in God's Word, divorce should never be an option.

Our generation is exposed to more sexual materials than other generations. The bible is the ultimate authority on sex because God designed it. Week1: Anything that consumes you more than God is idolatry. Epeethoomee- excessive desire for something good. Too much of something good is bad. Week2: Authority Boundaries-limits In our minds and in our hearts we are unable to enjoy things because of boundaries. But in reality the reason why we are able to enjoy our lives is because of boundaries. When it comes to sex and anything related to it, there are boundaries and authorities. Fire when it is controlled is beneficial like for cooking but when out of control is destructive. Sex is beautiful only done under the confines of marriage. Colossians 3:7 - put to death all sexual immorality and lust. Ephesians 4:17 Dont live as gentiles do who are ignorant and have hard hearts. 1. Permanence - marriage is not just a paper or a contract that you fulfill. - permanence is about a commit - it is acknowledging that God was the one who bound the two of you - what God has bound together let no man separate - our relationship with each other is not just by chance but by God's design - permanence is also about being faithful to each other "I was wrong. I'm sorry. Please forgive me." Pastor tears down a piece of paper with red and blue glued together but cannot be removed without hurting each other. 2. Pleasure - Meeting legitimate need in a legitimate way - LUST is meeting a legitimate need in an illegitimate way - Marriage is the highest form of relationship since it is exposes the best and worst in you "This ring is the sign of the covenant that we signed days ago. Since we have already made that covenant, you acknowledge that you are no longer on your own. But mine. 3. Procreation -
