There is nothing more Holy than the Lord's church because of what Jesus did. The church isn't just some club to be associated with. While the church is here to catch us when we fall, it is not a safety designed to be a part of your ONLY when you're falling. The church is the earthly expression of God's redeeming grace at work. It is compromised of all the New Testament Christians who are the recipients of His saving grace. 6 and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.” Exodus 19:6 Israel was a stepping stone to Christ Jesus. The church is described much like Israel was in the Old Testament. The church is God's special people today. Israel was God's own people in the past. Now, being an "Israelite" is open to all races. I. Significance of Holy A. Holiness is the nature of God 11 “Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods?Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders? Exodus 15:11 “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” Revelation 4:8b B. Connection to God makes it Holy When a person or item was set aside for God, it was made Holy before God according to scriptures. Being set apart for God, that connection to Him, makes it Holy. C. Holiness is a response to God Holiness is a response we have to God. It is a description of the life Christians live. 2 “Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them, You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy. Leviticus 19:2 14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:14-16 II. Consequences of being Holy A. The church is connected to God. Thus it is Holy The church is to serve the Lord. B. We as a individual Christian are Holy In everything you do, you are a Christian first. In every relationship, club, and status, you are to serve the King of Kings as a Christian. You never leave Holiness. Christians are the Holy Nation of God.

Does man like law? In general, most sane people would admit to liking law. Do you want to live in a society of no laws? It is chaos! Man craves law. Rules are important. There are 3 types of law in the Bible: 1. Law of Moses (Exodus - Deuteronomy) -10 Commandments (Exodus 20) -Approx 613 specific laws given in Mosiac Law--365 were negative or "thou shall not..." and approx 248 of them were positive or "thou shalt..." -Given to the Jewish people only (Exo 19:4-6, 34:27-28; Deut 5:1-3; Ps 147:19-20) -Was not given to man for self-justification. By the time Jesus came along, the Jewish spiritual leaders were misusing the law for self-justification by their faith in their ability to keep the law (John 5:39). (Rom 3:20--original text doesn't put "the" before law) 2. Moral Law (Rom 2:12-16) -What about the Gentiles during the Mosiac Law era or those today (hypothetical "jungle people") who have never heard of God? -What are things we know as humans, regardless of beliefs, know to be wrong? Stealing, killing, lying? What essentially are these? The 10 Commandments! Was it wrong, before Exodus 20, to kill? No! We have examples all throughout the Bible of these basic sins before the 10 Commandments were given: lying (Abraham), murder (Cain), homosexuality (Sodom), etc. -According to Rom 2:15, when did this law get written on man's heart? Adam and Eve eating the fruit (Gen 3:22). Every human being knows the difference of good and evil. At this moment, the nature of man changed. 3. Law of Faith/Liberty -Foundation aspects are completely different from the other types
